Quomodo manducare elephantum?
We guide the University in the four critical elements of emergency management:
- reduction,
- readiness,
- response, and
- recovery.
This includes overall responsibility for the University's Integrated Emergency Master Plan and Public Health Response Plan, assisting Faculties and units with developing their own response plans, oversight (with University of Alberta Protective Services) of the University's emergency notification system, and partnering with government agencies and other post-secondary institutions on emergency management.
There are four pillars of emergency management at the U of A.
- People
- Processes
- Plans
- Partners
Exercises: We conduct a series of exercises for the University.
- First Responder Table-tops - Twice a year.
- Section Chief Table-tops - Four times a year.
- Crisis Management Team EOC Simulations - Once a year.
- Site Simulations exercises as possible.
Plans: We provide service to the academic mission of the University by facilitating and coordinating the development of different kinds of emergency plans.
